What is it?

Boxing is a combat sport that involves two participants, commonly known as boxers or fighters, engaging in a contest of strength, skill, and strategy within the confines of a square boxing ring. The objective of boxing is to defeat the opponent by delivering powerful punches while evading and defending against their attacks. Here's a detailed description of boxing:

The Ring

The boxing ring is typically a square area enclosed by ropes, with a canvas mat on the floor. It has standard dimensions, usually measuring about 16 to 20 feet (4.9 to 6.1 meters) on each side. The ring is divided into four quarters by ropes stretched across the corners.

Equipment

Boxers wear gloves designed to protect their hands while also inflicting damage on opponents. The weight of the gloves varies depending on the weight class of the boxers. Additionally, they wear mouthguards to protect their teeth and mouth, and most boxers also wear hand wraps to provide extra support and cushioning for their hands and wrists.
